Planning to travel to Uganda for a safari, you definitely need a visa, which costs $50 and you get it at the point of entery. We highly recommed, You apply for a Visa online on the official Immigrations Depart https://visas.immigration.go.ug

You are advised to book atleat 6 months before the start of the safari, as Gorilla permits are very competitive especially in the peak season, when you book late, you might find the gorilla permits sold out, with no availability in the lodges.
