State of Glacier On Mt Rwenzori Peaks

There are concerns that the white cap on top of Mt Rwenzori is slowing melting, mainly comprising of snow and ice. There is a report  by researchers that studied the glacier on the mountain, indicating that the is a decrease of glacier on the mountains of the moon.

Particularly on Mt Stanley, the glacier has declined by 29% for the past 5 years, Mt Speke too is believed not to be in position to hold glacier, instead the glaciers shrink and can not flow down on their own, instead they turn into stuck ice fields. A recent photo from the orbit by NASA shows the glacier on peaks reducing.

Being Uganda’s tallest mountain standing high at over 5000 meters above see level, Mt Rwenzori is visible from afar, at the distant foot is Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kibale Forest National Park, a drive between these two parks offers wonderful views of the giant mountain.
