Welcome to Uganda Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Your adventure begins in Uganda- the Pearl of Africa. Depending on your international flight schedule, you will arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you are welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Rather than rushing immediately into the safari, the first stage can be kept comfortable and relaxed; use this time to recover from the journey, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the days ahead. Dinner and overnight at Boma Hotel Entebbe. Dinner only

Fly/Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today, the journey to Bwindi begins. If flying, you will be transferred to the Airport to catch the morning domestic flight to Bwindi, where you will be picked up and transferred to the lodge. If travelling by road, you will embark on a long journey southwest toward Uganda's gorilla wild home. The drive itself becomes part of the experience. Uganda changes dramatically as you leave the urban environment behind, with one major stopover at the Equator for photography and experiments, and lunch. Roads wind through countryside, villages, farms and rolling hills before the landscape gradually becomes greener and more mountainous. Once you arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you can already feel the atmosphere changing; the forest is closer, the air is cooler, and tomorrow's gorilla trek begins to feel real.

Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge. Full Board

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi - Face to Face with the Mountain Gorillas

Your trekking day starts early with breakfast, then you head to the park headquarters for a briefing. Here, Rangers explain the trekking procedures, safety guidelines, and gorilla etiquette before you begin your walk into the forest. Accompanied by a ranger, you head into the forest to start the trek into the wild home of the mountain gorillas, with no guaranteed route, no safari road, and no way of knowing exactly how long the forest will ask you to trek. That uncertainty is part of what makes gorilla trekking so exciting. The terrain can be steep and muddy; you may cross narrow trails, climb through dense vegetation, or move beneath towering trees. Depending on where the gorilla family has travelled, the trek can take several hours until you find them.

The first encounter is difficult to describe because it is more emotional than it is simply visual. Mountain gorillas are enormous, powerful animals, yet much of their behavior is remarkably familiar. You may observe a mother patiently caring for her infant, young gorillas wrestling or climbing trees, adults feeding quietly, and the silverback sitting nearby, observing everything happening within the group. A magical moment of just you, the forest, the gorillas, and the sound of nature. After the one-on-one with the gorillas, you will trek out of the forest, and your guide will be waiting to transfer you to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge. Full Board

From Uganda's Forests to Zanzibar Beach

After the intensity of your gorilla experience, your journey will slow down; take a domestic flight from Bwindi back to Entebbe, arriving by mid-morning. This part of the journey can be designed around your regional flight to Zanzibar; connect onward to your flight to Zanzibar, Uganda mountain forests give way to Zanzibar's Indian Ocean. Upon arrival at the Airport, you will be transferred to your Beach Hotel/Resort. After gorilla trekking, Zanzibar is exactly the kind of place where you can slow down; your days are intentionally flexible. Perhaps you wake early and walk along the beach before breakfast. Perhaps you spend the afternoon beside the pool. Or perhaps you decide that today is the day for snorkeling, sailing, or exploring the island. There is no pressure to fill every hour.

    Explore Zanzibar Beyond the Beach

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip to catch the domestic flight back to Entebbe International Airport for an onward flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel/resort for dinner and overnight.

Zanzibar Beach Holiday Although the beaches are undoubtedly one of Zanzibar's greatest attractions, the island offers far more than sun and sand.

You can explore its spice-growing heritage, visit local communities, or take a boat into the surrounding waters. There are colorful markets, wooden dhows, carved doors, fishing boats, tropical landscapes, and vibrant coastal life.

Activities to choose from during your Zanzibar Holiday

Take a Sunset Dhow Cruise; the most memorable experience of your Zanzibar holiday is a traditional dhow cruise. As the afternoon turns into evening, you board a traditional sailing vessel and head out onto the Indian Ocean. The waters become calm, and the horizon begins to change color; after the excitement of gorilla trekking, it is a beautifully quiet way to experience Zanzibar. One of the simplest and most memorable experiences to add to your Zanzibar stay is a traditional dhow cruise.

As afternoon turns into evening, you board a traditional sailing vessel and head out onto the Indian Ocean. The water becomes calmer, the horizon begins to change color, and the sun slowly disappears into the sea.

Stone Town — The Soul of Zanzibar: Before your journey ends, dedicate time to Stone Town.

This historic city provides a completely different perspective on Zanzibar.

Walk through narrow streets lined with historic buildings and beautifully carved wooden doors. Explore local markets, discover centuries-old architecture, and learn about the cultures that have shaped the island. A knowledgeable local guide can help transform what might otherwise look like a simple walking tour into a deeper cultural experience. You learn about Zanzibar's Swahili identity, Indian Ocean connections, trade history, and diverse cultural influences.

Then, as evening approaches, you can experience the waterfront and local food scene before returning to your accommodation.

    Visit Prison Island

A short boat journey from Stone Town takes you to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island.

The island is known for its historic buildings, tropical surroundings, and giant Aldabra tortoises.

It can be combined with snorkeling and swimming, making it an easy addition to a Stone Town itinerary.

    Go Snorkeling and Diving

The adventure does not have to end when you leave the rainforest.

Zanzibar's surrounding waters offer excellent opportunities to discover tropical marine life.

Spend a morning snorkeling over coral reefs or arrange a private diving excursion to explore the underwater world.

Depending on your interests and itinerary, marine activities can include reef snorkeling, scuba diving, boat excursions, and encounters with the remarkable biodiversity of the Indian Ocean.

After spending days looking into the eyes of mountain gorillas, looking beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean provides an entirely different perspective on East Africa's wildlife.

    Swim with Dolphins

This is an interesting way to experience Zanzibar; visit the south for Marine encounters with playful dolphins.  You are guided on a boat till the point where the dolphins are; you will then jump into the ocean to swim along with the dolphins such a great experience. After the experience, you sail back ashore and return to the hotel/resort.

Then, depending on your onward flight schedule, you are transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your journey home. You will leave with memories of a mountain gorilla family watching you from the forest, mist hanging between ancient trees, warm Zanzibar sand beneath your feet, and the Indian Ocean stretching endlessly toward the horizon.
