A Golden monkey gets it’s name from its appearance, the golden fur that runs on its back, the gold is well blended with an orange color to give these monkeys a very beautiful appearance.

Golden Monkey Tracking
Golden monkeys are tracked during a safari in Uganda or Rwanda, with visitors hiking up on the high altitude in search of these rare monkeys, the tracking is very rewarding, seeing these beautiful species high up in the wild. There currently estimated to be less than 4000 individuals making them labeled as an endangered species. Golden monkeys are very playful, very social living in troops that is headed by an a dominant male, because they are social, they communicate by making calls for social bonding, for marking territory, or for a signal of submission. They also use of facial expressions such as staring and lip smack lips as their way of greeting or in social matters..
There gestation period is 5 months, after which they give birth to the baby that has open eyes and fur.
Golden Monkey Tracking & Golden Monkey Habituation
Out of those troops, there are some that have been habituated and are ready for tracking. Habituation of more troops is underway, thus offering an chance for the habituation experience, where you follow monkeys with a team of research to monitor their behaviour and slowly introduce them to humans. During the tracking you are give some ample time of 1 hour to watch these beautiful monkeys, as they eat, swing between the trees, such an amazing experience. Where they Live
Golden Live mainly in Mgahinga Gorilla National park and volcanoes national park in Rwanda.
They like to live in high altitude areas with a bamboo vegetation, which is why Mgahinga and Volcanoes National parks are the favorable habitation for these beautiful monkeys. Because of their diet that includes on reliant on fruits, bamboo leaves and shoots, these areas are their best habitat.
How long does the exercise take?
Golden monkey tracking takes about 2 – 4 hours, whereas the habituation take about 4-5hours depending on the location of these playful monkeys. In Rwanda the moment with the golden monkeys is strictly 1 hour. The tracking is not so tasking, as golden monkeys usually return to the existing nests, so its easy to find them.
